Centennial Park Hurricane IAN Disaster Recovery

In the aftermath of Hurricane IAN, BEI provided Emergency Structural Assessment and Disaster Recovery engineering services for Centennial Park – one of Fort Myers's historic riverfront park facilities. The Pavillion structure and the Restroom/Maintenance building were destroyed or damaged when this historic Category 4 hurricane brought 150-mph winds and up to 6+ feet of storm surge to the park facility and downtown areas.

BEI’s facility structural assessment reports provided support of the City of Fort Myer’s Application for Public Assistance grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Disaster Recovery engineering support provided temporary bracing and shoring design to allow safe re-opening of the facilities to the public until permanent repairs could be made.
